Federal agents seized more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana in two separate seizures in the Ajo area last week.
The marijuana's estimated value was $810,000.Â
Border Patrol agents and agents of the Office of Air and Marine worked in conjunction and made two arrests, and seized two vehicles and the marijuana, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release Thursday.
In the first incident, Border Patrol agents received a tip about a vehicle transporting drugs. When they encountered the vehicle, their was a pursuit and an Office of Air and Marine helicopter crew responded to assist, according to officials.
The vehicle fled onto Highway 86, and then traveled off the roadway. Two occupants ran from the vehicle in different directions. A second helicopter crew had arrived on scene, and the helicopter pilots followed the men running from the vehicle.

Border Patrol agents were guided to where each of the fleeing men hid, and the men were taken into custody.
In a search of the vehicle, agents found 721 pounds of marijuana, said officials.
In the second incident, Border Patrol agents received a tip regarding a suspicious vehicle near GuVo. When agents arrived in the area, they found fresh tire tracks heading west, and a Office of Air and Marine helicopter crew assisted agents tracking the vehicle.
Agents found an abandoned vehicle hidden in brush. While the helicopter crew provided cover for the Border Patrol agents, the agents searched the vehicle and found 40 bundles of marijuana. The marijuana weighed 888 pounds, said authorities.
