Inspired by the tragic Victorian phrase "mad as a hatter," Lewis Carroll's character the Mad Hatter is one of the most memorable characters in "Alice in Wonderland." His distinguishing accessory is a top hat with a hatband that reads "In this style 10/6," a price tag that means 10 shillings and a sixpence.
